Wine Stocks

According to the ABS, inventories of Australian beverage wine held by winemakers (who crush more than 400 tonnes) increased this year to 1.72 billion litres at 30 June 2010 (see table below). This was a 8.3% decrease on last year's end of financial year figure and inventories remain lower than they were at the end of 2006 when the figure was 2.11 billion litres. Table wine inventories decreased by 8.3% to 1.5 billion litres as at 30 June 2010.

White table wine accounted for 581 ML or 33.7% of the stock of total beverage wine stored by winemakers this year. Red/rosé table wine stocks of 961 ML litres still represented 55.8% of the beverage wine stock held by winemakers.
