Wine Production

The ABS reported that 1,124 ML of beverage wine was produced (winemakers crushing more than 400 tonnes) a 4% drop from 2008-09 when 1,171 ML of wine was produced (see table below). Production of unfortified wine accounted for 98.7% of the total beverage wine. Red/rosé wine made up 612.5 ML or 55.2% of the 2009-10 beverage wine. White wine accounted for 497.8 ML or 44.8% of beverage wine.

South Australia produced 527.6 ML or 47.5% of the total unfortified wine production, followed by New South Wales with 377.8 ML (34.0%) and Victoria 158.5 ML (14.3%). Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania recorded increases in production while New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland showed negative growth in 2009-10.
