Wine Australia have celebrated its one year anniversary of A+ Australian Wine with a large scale business conference and workshop in Shanghai. The conference was aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of Australia’s fine wine, while providing attendees with tips to improve their sales.

Beer and wine to carry health warnings
The most popular beers, wines and spirits will all carry health warnings soon, under a voluntary industry scheme. The campaign, to be launched officially today, warns consumers of the dangers of drinking excessively and drinking while pregnant or underage, reports The Australian. "Providing messages which prompt consumers to think about their drinking ... will help support the community in making informed decisions," chair of the DrinkWise Australia Board, Trish Worth, said.
Wine in the shower - study explores new occasions when millennials drink wine (US)

It is useful for wine marketers to examine the types of occasions in which this generation drinks wine. Therefore a study of 467 Millennials was launched. The results support a recent finding from Wine Opinions showing that nearly 60% of US consumers now drink wine without meals, reports Wine Business Daily.
Bordeaux 2010: 'Not a bubble', says Cazes (France)
The Bordeaux market has begun to regulate itself, and fears of a bubble are ill-founded, the head of the Union des Grands Crus has said. Sylvie Cazes, managing director of Chateau Pichon Lalande and recently re-elected president of the UGC told Decanter that the 2010 en primeur campaign has proved that Bordeaux is beginning to find a balance between price and demand.
Clos Henri marks 10-year milestone (NZ)
Wairau Valley wine company Clos Henri celebrated Bastille Day and 10 years in business in Marlborough at the weekend. Operational chief executive and winemaker Damien Yvon said more than 100 industry contacts attended an open day on Saturday, enjoying tastings in the church converted to a winery and a marquee, reports The Marlborough Express.
Chile reduces dependence on UK market (Chile)
“Challenging” conditions in the UK have led a number of Chile’s producers to indicate that they are keen to reduce their dependence on this market, according to the latest report from Rabobank Wine Quarterly. The report found that UK pricing remains “roughly 20%” below Chile’s average export price. During the first four months of 2011, the UK average price of Chilean wine bottled exports rose by 13%, although this increase resulted in a 5% volume decline, reports The Drinks Business.
Villa Maria high achieving Auckland vineyard takes wine of show (NZ)
Villa Maria Estate has been awarded Wine of the Show along with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir trophies at the inaugural Spiegelau International Wine Competition awards dinner held on Friday night. The Villa Maria Single Vineyard Ihumatao (Auckland) Chardonnay 2010 took the Chardonnay trophy and Wine of the Show whilst the Villa Maria Reserve Pinot Noir 2009 was the Pinot Noir trophy winner, reports Tiz Wine.

Tesco’s wine aisle gets a makeover (US)
Tesco is revamping the look of its wine aisles based on the results of extensive consumer research. The research identified consumers as two main types – the “engage me” customer, who has an interest in wine and enjoys browsing, and the “tell me” customer, who, intimidated by the so-called “wall of wine”, is looking for guidance. The new look will be rolled out from mid-August, reports The Drinks Business.
