Trophies presented for the Canberra Regional Wine Show

Trophies were presented to award winning wineries at the 2009 ActewAGL Canberra Regional Wine Show presentations last night.

A record 285 entries from 53 wineries around the Canberra region were received.

Results for the show are as follows:

Careers Unlimited trophy for best Riesling — Helm Wines 2008 Premium Riesling

Canberra District Vignerons’ Association trophy for best Chardonnay — McWilliam’s Wines 2008 Barwang 842 Chardonnay

TransACT Communications trophy for best dry white other varieties – Centennial Vineyards 2008 Woodside Sauvignon Blanc

University House Trophy for best dry white of show — Helm Wines 2008 Premium Riesling

Capital Insurance Brokers trophy for best Shiraz — Eden Road Wines 2008 The Long Road Hilltops Shiraz

Oakton trophy for best Cabernet and/or Merlot — Tallagandra Hill 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc

Oakton trophy for best dry red other varieties and blends – not awarded

Caffe Della Piazza trophy for best dry red of show (open classes) — Eden Road Wines 2008 The Long Rd Hilltops Shiraz

Bentley MRI trophy for best sparkling of show — Centennial Vineyards Pinot Chardonnay

Wine selectors trophy for champion wine of show — result tied — Eden Road Wines 2008 The Long Rd Hilltops Shiraz and Helm Wines 2008 Premium Riesling

Viticulture Society of the Southern Tablelands (ACT and NSW) trophy most successful exhibitor of show — Eden Road Wines.
