The annual event where boutique wine producers can match their produce against their peers is on again with entries for the 2009 Blackwood Valley & WA Boutique Wine Show now officially open.
The show provides an opportunity for smaller wine producers from across the state and our own Blackwood Valley Region to have their wine judged to Australian standards, as well as a chance to promote their label and region. Producers must crush less than 250t of fruit to be eligible for the prestigious trophies and medals on offer.
For this year’s event, organiser Jodie Nield has secured the expertise of three renowned industry personnel to form the judging panel.
“Kim Horton as our chief judge, along with judges Ray Jordan and Simon Hanley means that each wine entered will be critiqued and assessed by a wealth of industry knowledge” said Nield.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for producers to gain constructive feedback on their wines, and a chance to get recognition for great wines,” she said.
With over 200 entries expected, the judging process will occur over two days in late October, concluding on the Friday evening with a tasting of the show wines. This event will be held at the Bridgetown Civic Centre and will allow exhibitors and wine enthusiasts to discuss their wines with the judges and compare them against other entries. The presentation of awards will also occur at this function with tickets available for $30 per head.
Entries close Monday 31 August. Entry forms and information can be obtained by contacting wine show secretary Jodie Nield on 0427 095 533, or visiting the website at www.blackwoodvalleywine.asn.au.
