The Riverland Wine Show specialises in the judging of wines from the warm inland regions. Baring some class exceptions, competing wines have to have a minimum of 85% of fruit grown in the Australian geographic indications of Swan Hill, Murray Darling, Riverina, Rutherglen and Riverland.
Eric Semmler, Chairman of the Riverland Wine Show Committee, in announcing the key dates for 2009 program, said:
“Despite the difficult operating climate that most in the industry are experiencing, there is reason to be optimistic about the future," Semmler said.
"The wine show circuit provides and excellent opportunity for winemakers around Australia to present their wines for technical evaluation.
"The value that shows such as the Riverland Wine Show have bought to the Australian wine industry cannot be underestimated, and it is this continued pursuit of excellence that will contribute to the success of our future,” he said.
