Picking in the Pyrenees wine region of Victoria is almost complete, with most wineries reporting smaller yields due to the lack of rain, however they are excited about the quality of the fruit.

Luigi and his wife Athalie were recently honored with the title “Legend” at the recent Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. Each year since its inception in 1993, the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival have awarded to the title to those who have promoted the food and wine industry above and beyond the call of duty. Lord Mayor of Melbourne Cr. John So awarded the Bazzani’s on the rooftop of the ABC studios on 28th February.
Andrew Koerner of Blue Pyrenees is rating vintage 08 highly. “We have had an average growing season in terms of rainfall and the timing of the rains were very good. Overall it was a cool growing season with a typical warm autumn finish. Great for reds!” Blue Pyrenees is located in Avoca, their cellar door is open daily 10.00am to 5.00pm.
Another of the Pyrenees winemakers is equally excited about vintage 08. Mark Summerfield of Summerfield Wines is quoted as saying “ The earliest vintage ever at Summerfield and the fruit looks outstanding. We are very excited about 08”. Summerfield wines picked up numerous awards for their wines in 07, these comments have all in the industry really looking forward to tasting the outcome of vintage 08.
